Go Caribbean!
Vibrant colours, a 'yo' style and a li’l bit
of piracy. These are my ingredients for the looks I created for the Caribbean
theme this month.
Here’s a little pirate.
And here’s a music lover from a sea shore.
The three fourths he is wearing is the famous Batik print from Bali. 5000.00 (Rs.
25.00). The T is from Cartagena, COP 5000.00 (Rs. 120.00).

The School Girl Look
I was thinking a lot about school this month. I didn’t like it much, but I did enjoy wearing my uniform. I remember my navy blue skirt, white shirt, white and blue striped tie and belt. And of course, white socks and jet black shoes. I asked myself, what would I wear if I ever wanted to look like a school girl again? Hence, I put together this look. Enjoy!
This brown pleated skirt was my main ingredient. Commercial Street: Rs. 500
On top I wore a cream coloured spaghetti, (Sarojini Nagar: Rs. 50) which I covered with a coffee coloured shrug. Sarojini Nagar: Rs. 50.
And these I teamed with my grey leather boots. Monterrey, Medellin: COP 50,000 (Rs. 1000)
And this is what I got! I liked it. Do you?
P.S - Forgive my lack of models and modelling skills. And no need to snicker at the funny mask. It protects me from prying eyes and wandering minds!

Let's Get Beachy!!
Now I have a funny way of putting up my photographs of fashion. Namely, the models don't have any faces. That's right! The headless horseman, did I hear? Well, I mean this is the Internet. I am savvy too you know. So what if it took me years to realize that pressing keys on a keyboard won’t blow up the computer. Lots of those witches from the Victorian era, or their grand children are still lurking around. They can morph you to look like rats and toads, or vixens and kittens, if you know what I mean (wink wink, nudge, nudge!!). Any way you are here to see the fashion, if you want to see what it looks like wholly, try it in front of the mirror.
Let me start with a pair of Hawaiis that I bought speciall for Goa. They caught my eye instantly, as they hung from a rack in Westside. I loved the white flower print, but most of all I like the floral cut in the front. They are at once cute!
I teamed this pair with a girlie little cotton dress I had bought from Westside, and added my crimson and cream scarf from Globus for drama. Then came the copper coloured wooden bangles from Niknish. And I had fun in Goa!
I also took them to Mahabalipuram, where I teamed them with a white, soft cotton kurti from SN and my white cotton wraparound speckled with huge black and ochre flowers, again from SN.

Fashionbaaz is Born
Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire. We girls have been leafing through them for years now, ejaculating oohs and aahs at every new creation of the Diors, the Louis Vuittons, the Chanels, the D&Gs. How we would love to pay tribute to their geniuses by draping ourselves in their dresses, shoes, jewelery, cosmetics and perfumes. To feel all female eyes going green with envy and all male ones going goggle-eyed, as we trot about in soft chiffon silks, patent leather adorning our feet, well blended blush on our cheeks, our skin fragrant with fresh roses.
Oh, but I do realize that this is a maha-materialistic dream of the sophistication we can never afford. Not that I have to struggle to make my ends meet. But then there is the house loan I have to pay, and then that laptop I was planning to buy this month. Not to dampen your spirits but there is a very slim chance of my seeing a day when I drop in to Jimmy Choo, to pick up those pumps that I have absolutely been dying for, for the past week. I would more likely just be sighing ‘filmily’ before picking up the phone and calling my gal buddies to my rescue, “Help! I need to shop.” Of course, they will promptly all arrive, knightesses in shining lip gloss and we will waste no time in dilly-dallying.
Com Street, Tibetan Shopping Centre: smart pumps = Rs.600 (no price on request)
Koramangala, Star: Olive green leggings = Rs.200
Forum, Niknish: Artificial red stone danglers = Rs.50
Phew! Feeling better already. Now just create an occasion to have a party. And show off. But we are running out of excuses there. I mean it was ridiculous enough to demand a people-meet-people party from a friend just to get introduced to her new beau. Next, we will be throwing a party because the plumber finally fixed the flush. Euuu…
Then why not show my entire wardrobe off to the entire world in a blog. Yah yah. I know it’ll be just three four people who will take a look out of politeness, mostly because I force them to. I know the writings are not crisp, neither are the photographs glossy. But it’ll be fun. I know I dont have any fancy models to even try on my stuff, but what I heck! It'll be $%^&*#@$ fun!
I don't know about you, but I am all smiles and excited. I wanna try this. Please bear with me. At least wish this thing a happy birthday. Tee hee! So let's begin the fashionbaazi.
